One of my favorite passages on speaking is where Paul wrote. . .
“(29) Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” (Ephesians 4:29 ESV)
If this was the only passage dealing with conversation and speaking — for it alone to be followed by all — what an amazing difference it would make in our interaction with others. Engaging with speech that is wholesome, that builds others up rather than tearing them down, that is appropriate for the moment, and is gracious; oh, how beneficial our conversations would be. In fact, others would find joy in engaging in conversation with people like us. Imagine the door of opportunity that could open for going on to share the Gospel of Jesus! May we remain mindful of how we engage with others that thoughts and lives can be ultimately directed upward to God.
Have a great day ENGAGING IN GOOD GODLY SPEECH!
