REST OF THE STORY!

Along with a New Year comes new opportunities. There are doors which open up providing opportunities to meet new people, engage in new works, go to new places, perhaps doing things we never imagined, etc. However, with the coming of a New Year there is also the closing of doors on things we ought not to do and leaving behind the wrongs done for which we have been forgiven. The past is behind us. Though we may not forget it all — keeping in mind the lessons from the past so as to not repeat the same mistakes again and again — we cannot return to the past to change anything. That door is closed! The story of our past has been written and though it may explain some things about us, it does not have to define us!

Presently the story of our life continues with a new day God has given. We have the opportunity to close the book on the past as we look to the guidance of God in writing the rest of the story. That is where our focus is to rest. Life is not to be lived with eyes focused in the rearview mirror, but ahead of us! Such was the life perspective of Paul as he stated. . .Presently the story of our life continues with a new day God has given. (12) Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. (13) Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14 ESV)

As we have begun the journey into this New Year, let us gratefully accept each new day God gives as the opportunity it is to continue in a closer walk with Him and His Will! With the rest of our story continuing in the process of being written, our walk with God will ultimately include eternal rest with Him! May we continue pressing on toward that rest of the story!

Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY GOD’S OPEN DOOR OF HOPE!
